But True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard is seen here in a role which could not be any more incongruous - as a doting daddy.

The 34-year-old actor was on the set of his new movie, What Maisie Knew, shooting scenes with his on-screen daughter in New York today.

In one shot, he is seen lifting the little girl up by her hands, while in another she swings off his arms with a huge grin on her face.

Alexander plays the role of an art dealer going through a tumultuous divorce with his rock star wife.

The film follows the story of how their split impacts on their six-year-old daughter.

It has only just started filming and there are few details on the movie, which is set for release next year.

Swedish actor Alexander - best known for his role in True Blood alongside the likes of Anna Paquin - is the son of veteran actor Stellan Skarsgard.
