Emiri Miyasaka was crowned Miss Japan Universe 2009 on May 11. She beat over 3,000 contestants to win the title. She will try to win Miss Universe 2009 which will be held on August 23 in Bahamas. Japan has done really well in the last few Miss Universe contest. Kurara Chibana was 1st runner up for Miss Universe 2006, Riyo Mori was the winner for Miss Universe 2007 and last year Miss Japan, Hiroko Mima, placed in the top 15.
